In a world often filled with uncertainty, stories of hope and perseverance shine brightly. Today, we share a remarkable success story about our company that went above and beyond to reunite a missing person with loved ones after an agonising five-year separation.
Nick Traveller, known to many as "Adam Fergus," vanished unexpectedly in August 2019, leaving his friends and family in Pembrokeshire deeply concerned. His planned lunch with a friend never happened, and initial searches yielded no results. The case eventually went cold and was reported to the authorities.
However, SARS Cymru, driven by their CEO Ajay Owen's unwavering commitment, refused to give up. They launched an internal investigation, determined to find answers. A dedicated task force was formed, pooling resources and expertise to meticulously review old records, revisit discussions with Nick's friends, and explore previously overlooked leads whilst including the great community work of those who live in Pembrokeshire.
After years of persistent effort, a breakthrough arrived. Information surfaced online showing Nick participating in a BBC-sponsored walk across the UK, providing a crucial clue near his home. The investigation revealed that Nick had been living in Scotland and traveling internationally. He had been arrested in Bulgaria due to visa issues following Brexit and subsequently returned to the UK, resuming his life in Scotland.
Nick had embarked on a walking journey through Scotland, Ireland, Wales, and England. When he returned to his home area of Pembrokeshire, SARS Cymru launched a social media appeal, which garnered significant community support. Residents across Ceredigion and North Pembrokeshire offered him accommodation.
The social media campaign generated numerous leads, requiring the investigators to focus their search on the most frequently mentioned areas: St. Dogmaels, Cardigan, Lampeter, and Fishguard. A community member's photo posted in Fishguard, just two hours on day 2 into the media search, significantly narrowed the search area.
Ajay, along with his wife and friends, immediately traveled to Fishguard. Despite an initial search, they returned home, only to resume the search the following morning with with his wife, then continuing in the evening with Sasha, a close friend of Nick's, utilising her local knowledge and a friendly face.
Exhausted and hungry after further searches, the group was about to give up for the day when a text message arrived from a great, friendly, community gentleman:
"Nick is in the Ship Inn, Trefin...right now."
Ajay and the team raced to the gorgeous community pub. Upon entering, Sasha immediately recognised Nick, leading to a joyful reunion. After speaking with local residents and thanking them for their help, Ajay suggested they speak in a more private location to ask questions. Nick then stayed with Ajay and his wife, Shania, who had been best friends with Nick and had feared the worst for numerous years. Nick was grateful that so many people cared about him.
During Nick's stay, he answered some of the many questions that had arisen:
Where have you been?
Why haven't you contacted anyone?
Why did you change your name?
Do you have a phone?
Why did you do what you did?
The answers to these questions will be shared in future updates.
Key Takeaways from this:
Never Give Up Hope: This story demonstrates the power of perseverance, even when faced with seemingly insurmountable obstacles.
Company Social Responsibility: SARS Cymru's dedication exemplifies a strong commitment to their network and the wider community.

Nick continued his journey on 24/01/2025 at 11pm in Trefin. He continued his journey on foot towards St. Davids. If you see Nick around, please do snap a photo and post to Social Media using #NickTravels so we can all keep track of his journey.
This heartwarming story highlights the profound impact companies and communities can have when they prioritise the well-being of others. It also suggests that sometimes proactive action can be more effective than relying solely on statutory services, although SARS Cymru did inform the relevant authorities of their actions and the outcome.
